About the Club
We meet once a month in Takapuna. Our evenings generally start off with a quick runthrough of club business which takes about ten minutes, followed by magic being performed by our members.
Special themed nights such as auctions, video nights, trading tables of magical equipment, balloon-jams, theatresports, drama sessions and visits from guest lecturers and performers also occur during the year.
Each year the club runs the "Shore Is Magic!" family comedy magic show. These are a series of performances open to the public held in several theatres in Auckland.
New members are most welcome - if you have a serious interest in magic and wish to find out more about the Shore City Magicians Club please get in contact with us.
You may attend as a visitor for three meetings, after that you will be invited to perform an initiation act. This is a performance of five to ten minutes consisting of three or more tricks to show your interest, motivation and competence.
The annual club subscription is $25 for those under twenty, $35 to those above. This fee covers clubroom hire and running costs.
Members are entitled to library and voting privileges as well as being invited to magic evenings held in Auckland featuring lecturers from around the world.
In 2010 the SCMC will host the 30th New Zealand International Magicians Convention.
